Oct. 4-5—The teams move to Vermont for the 2nd part of the Challenge.
Sept. 27-28(sat, sun)—Midwest—East Coast Wiffleball Challenge. Best wiffleball team from a major Midwest tourney (wifflefest in Homewood Flossmoor, Il. vs. winner of Travis Roy Charity Tourney in Vermont (www.littlefenway.com) Details to follow. Possible national TV coverage. WISH LIST-SPONSORS—HOTEL ROOMS NEEDED. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.
Aug. 16-17(sat, sun)—Wiffleball tourney,with teams from all over the Midwest, sponsored by Freeport Chamber of Commerce. Details to follow. Kim Grimes (233-1350) and will be main contacts. SPONSORS NEEDED.
July 19 (Saturday)—Fergie Jenkins Day. Fergie will be at LCF 9am-12. He will sign, do a LL clinic, and for 1 hour will pitch 3 pitches to anybody with a $31 donation to LCF.Those who are eligible to hit will be determined soon. They will have a chance to hit a homer at LCF off a Hall of Famer. That evening, it is Fergie Jenkins Bobblehead night at the Rockford Riverhawks, and also Freeport Night. His bobblehead will have Little Cubs Field logo on it, and 50-50 drawing that night, and ½ of proceeds of his signings there go to LCF. SPONSORS NEEDED—CONTACT DENNY AT 815-235-5318
July 11,Friday,(5pm-8pm) , July 12, 13(sat, sun), all day—16 team LL tourney for 7-8 yrs olds(Freeport LL is coordinating) Plans to have 8 teams local(with 50 miles) and 8 teams national.
July 1,2( Tuesday, wed.)(EVENING)—Lena Little League all-star games (7-8yr olds)
June 21 (Saturday)—Pee wee all-stars all day.
June 14th (Saturday)—Grand Opening celebration, with Ron Santo, and possibly other Cubs front office staff, maybe other surprises. Ron will be here noon-2pm. Other events will go on all day until 7pm. WISH LIST--Event planning committee to plan and coordinate other events that day (all star local celebrity game, Homerun derby, etc). SPONSORS FOR RON SANTO VISIT AVAILABLE—CONTACT DENNY AT 815-235-5318. This will include private visit with Ron from noon to 1pm, limited number of these vip tickets at $250 each will be on sale soon. Tentative schedule:
Noon-1pm--vip visits with Ron Santo at Freeport Park District meeting room. Hitting contest for prizes at LCF for the general public.
1-2pm-Ron Santo comes to LCF and talks, answers questions, throws out a pitch, limited signings
2:30pm-4:00--Little League pee wee game
4:30 pm-5:00pm—Homerun Derby—50 and older All-Stars vs. Freeport High and Aquin Baseball players
5:00 pm-5:45pm—Celebrity Baseball game (teams to be announced).Crazy Innings Game (show up to find out what this is)
6:00pm-6:30 pm—Kickball homerun derby—Freeport boys and girls soccer teams vs. Soccer Alumni/Coaches
6:45 pm-7:30 pm—Kickball game (teams TBA)
Food will be provided by Mt. Calvary Church, Ciminos, possibly Culvers(frozen yogurt),Pepsi
June 7th (Saturday)—5pm—First wedding at LCF
May 17th (Saturday)—First day that LCF can be rented for groups. (Actual reservations can be taken starting March 17th at noon via the website, with credit cards).
Other events may also be added to schedule.
Also planned are adult wiffleball and kickball leagues later in the summer.
On all days of the week, the general schedule is for the field to be open for all to play, with no admission from 8-10am, noon-2pm, and 4-6pm. It is available to rent in 1 hour or 2 hour sessions, from 10am-noon, 2-4pm and 6-8pm, subject to availability. (this equates to 2 hrs open, 2 hrs rentable, alternating)
